\"474px-Joseph_Haydn\"<\/a>In a previous post<\/a>, Bandhymns.com<\/a> was delighted to extol the virtues of Big Daddy Bach<\/a> . . . but he isn’t the only famous classical composer in the hymnbook.\u00a0 Today, we are pleased to offer a very well known tune by Franz Joseph Hayden, Hymn #46, Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken<\/em>.<\/p>\n

This tune is not just known as a hymn, but it is also recognized as Germany’s National Anthem, called the “Deutschlandlied<\/i>” or “Das Lied der Deutschen<\/span><\/em>” (according to wikipedia<\/a>).\u00a0 Which is why the melody is so familiar to many of us.\u00a0 Our music minions were embarrassed as they worked this sheet music when our flute play tester asked why we were doing the “Uber Alles” song . . . then it clicked and it all made sense.
